Why I Write These Books?

I see books as treasure hunts, some of them are full of scintillating knowledge, others provide a gemstone of good tools and essential information that we collect and use at opportune times. The more I reflect on the importance of writing books for children, the more it becomes indispensable for me to write great books that serve as an impetus to children’s educational, mental and psychological development.

Even before I became an author, I was always fascinated by all book genres. I was fortunate to grow up around books and I was encouraged to ask questions. Most books kept my imagination going. I wanted to know if there was a part two to the story and too many “whys” as to the decisions of the characters. When I did not find the answers, I became more inquisitive. Overtime, books have shaped my thought process on a number of subjects. They have also served me as guidance, comfort, hope and peace. With books in hands, I have made great conversations with people in airplanes, met great friends and learn more about human suffering and triumphs.

I believe that reading through good books foster independent thinking, and awake part of ourselves that require internal dialogue and honest engagement. I plan to support children in a positive and nurturing way through my books. As they are reading together with their parents or teachers, they can become more engaging about the characters, the pictures, and fundamentally the life lessons while developing literacy development.

These written words and printed pages are made possible as beneficial tools to encourage children to learn. I believe children should have access to books whenever they want. Eventually, they will get adopted to being read to, and become inclined to read, ask questions and apply what they learn. Depending on what’s happening in the book, I can foresee one child who visualizes himself/herself as the main character because they identity themselves in the story. While another child might use the same story to recreate it his or her own way. Within the stories that I present in my books, children can constantly learn through the characters and find joy in the gift that is reading, but more importantly through the incorporation of phonics, phonological awareness, vocabulary and many more reading and language arts methods. I hope to continuously shine lights in children’s minds.
